Mad Pirate games

When I am asked here "where did you good to college?" I get a lot of head scratch when I say Millersville University. Unless someone is from Pennsylvania or Maryland there is a good chance they have never heard of it. The bay area is full of people from elite schools.

Now when I am asked I can say it is the school that did not give a 27 year old grad student a teaching degree because of a Myspace photo titles Drunken Pirate. I really wish I was kidding, but I am not.

I cannot tell you how out of line I think this is. She is over 21. She is a grad student. You cannot even tell if she is drinking beer in the photo. It is not like she is clearly on campus. The school is way out of line on this one. I hope she wins her lawsuit.

Zero Impact, Staring the RIAA

According to a new study P2P effect on legal music sales "not statistically distinguishable from zero". I did not see that one coming. I always thought the impact was low, but I never thought it was as low as zero.

This means the music industry is losing more money putting DRM on music than it is saving by keeping sales. This is money that could be coming to the labels bottom lines. This money could be helping you. Instead you are wasting it. Just think of all that money you wasted suing people using P2P networks. That must have been a pretty penny.

I know that the music industry will come out against this report. They will say it is cutting into their bottom line. They will say that something has to account for the lack of sales. It could not be that the music coming out sucked and that the people running record labels are out of touch. It could not be that you had no idea how to promote your music on the internet until Myspace dropped. I think I am going to believe the study.

Community on Line.

Autumn was talking about how communities on the internet have been fragmenting over the last few years. People either you LiveJournal or Zanga, MySpace or Tribe, Flickr or SmugMug. She said that she ends to fall out of touch with people who use the tools she does not favor. Just because you switch to Vox, that does not mean the people reading you will also switch to Vox.

My internet brands are Flickr, LiveJournal, and Vox.

This might be the best picture taken of me so far this year. I told Elea that I would use this photo on dating sites if she took it. It is already my LJ icon and MySpace profile photo. Peter told me that he finds this photo to be both endearing and disturbing in equal amounts. I am not sure I agree with him.

Should I put this photo up on my Yahoo Personals Profile? I would think it would weed out a lot of people who would not understand me.

Vox

I just signed up for a Vox account. I am not sure what I am going to do with it. I already have a blog, a backup blog, LiveJournal, myspace, and Yahoo 360 account. You would think I already have enough places to blog. I guess I feel like I always need more. I know it is because I want to be there before it becomes big. If it turns out to be the next big thing, I want to be there before it is over. I had a Flickr account for almost a year before I started using it.

Vox has a lot of cool features. I can hook it right into my flickr account to make uploading photos easy. It also makes it easy for me to blog about music. I could make this my blog about music. That would be pretty cool.

I am not sure where all of these blogging services are going. I am not sure if I should cross post things or use every post for a different reason. I just wish I had enough time to keep all these blogs up to date.

I have an invite to share if anyone wants to try Vox. Just let me know.

Overheard at the coffee house

I am sitting next to two sixity year old men. They are talking about women that used to be parts of their life. The funny thing is that I could hear my friends having the same conversations. The one guy was talking about finding one of his old classmates on myspace and hooking up with her. They are talking about not getting over women and the mistakes they have made. I guess men never grow up.

Update: I heard this on Sunday before everything happened with Dreamgirl. I wonder if it was a sign I was not seeing.
