Thoughts On Kerry

Since Kerry locked in the Democratic nomination for President he has been flying every low on the media radar. He is letting George Bush have enough headlines to hang himself. I find this an interesting strategy. It reminds me of the situation where an unnamed candidate will poll really well against an incumbent, but once an actual candidate was named their numbers would go way down. John Kerry has finally found a way to run as the unnamed candidate.

Many of my democratic friends want to call the election in Kerry's favor right now. They keep on telling me that Bush cannot recover from what is happening right now. It does not work that way. What is happening in Iraq right now will have some effect on the election right now, but it is more important what is happening in September and October. With Kerry running as the unnamed candidate it is totally Bush's election to win or lose. No matter what the poll number say right now, he still has time to win it.

Light Headed

Sometimes there is so much in my head it feels like nothing. I would like to be able to pull out all my thoughts into something that looks like writing. I would like to able to pull my experences into writing. I think there is something there that could be good writing. I am just not sure that I am a good enough writer to get it out.

Berlin Wall

Does anyone know where in Mountain View this is? I would like to take some pictures of it.

Toaster Salvation

Elke, the first person I knew who came up with the idea of posing with our toaster, send me a link to Pose With Your Toaster .Com. Yesterday I posted my toaster pix there. You can still send me your toaster pix and I will put them on Sad Salvation. I am just happy there are other people who are also reacting to this ad.

Dancing Ladies

Lost Vacation Notes: 3/31/04

When I was in Vancouver, BC there was this woman who was dancing in a store front. This is the storefront next to a dance school. She was doing this as a fundraiser for the school. She was doing it for the whole month of March.

I was mystified by her. I could have stood there and watched her all day long. When I was there it was just me standing there. I felt like there was almost something intimate going on. I do not know how much money she raised.

Pac Manhattan

I would be great to be a life action Pac Man. I wonder why no one has not set one up here.

More toasters

Here is a picture of Peter Conrad and his toaster. You will have to ask Peter about how he got the stickers off the the Rubix Cubes he used for Attempted Not Known #10.

Personal Photo Challenge

Fill up your memory card in 24 hours. The idea would be to see if you can fill up the memory card on your digital camera. I have taken a lot of pictures in a day, but I have never filled up a memory card.

I have a 256 MB card. Most of the time I come no where near filling it. The question is what resolution. At the highest resolution, can only fit 90 Photos on my camera. That would be no challenge. I fill that up in under an hour. Maybe I should do one day at each setting. It this it would be impossible to do at the lowest setting.

What would you take pictures of if you were doing this?
Are there any rules that I should be sticking to?

City of Music

Lost Vacation Notes:

Portland is the only city I know of that publishes a Guide to Independent Record Stores. There are 31 different record stores on this guide. I wonder how wide of a circle around San Jose I would have to draw before I even found 31 different record stores. I have the feeling it would have to include San Francisco, Berkley, and Santa Cruz. It something I miss about living in Portland

Here is a list of all the music I bought when I was last in Portland.

Pavement - Slow Century DVD
Jeff Mangum - Live at Jittery Joe's
The Decemberists - The Tain
M. Ward - End of Amnesia
Mirah with the Black Cat Orchestra - To All We Stretch the Open Arm
Matthew Good Band - Beautiful Midnight
Matthew Good Band - Last of the Ghetto Astronauts
Neutral Milk Hotel - Everything Is
Microphones - Song Island
The Bens - The Bens
Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered days

Who are those people?

Phil Collins is coming to San Jose on his First Final farewell Show. I only now this because I drive by the HP Pavilion a couple of times a week. I know that Phil Collins has to be someone's favorite artist. I just cannot imagine who those people are. I would think no matter what you like about Phil Collins, there is another artist right now who does it better. I guess I see Phil Collins as a relic of the 80's. I remember liking him when I was in junior high, but that was a long time ago for everyone. I just hope Phil really does retire.

Self

I little while ago a friend of mine posted a link about over-sensitive nice guys. It pretty much answers the question why women do not like nice guys.

Today I decided to take the quiz on Ok Cupid. I learn that I am The Boy Next Door. I do not expect this to surprise anyone. Sometimes you cannot look away from the truth.
