Wasting Away

If there is something I know, it is how to waste my time. I seem to do that more often that I like. I have to find ways to use my weekends better.

Mars, where are you?

We should never forget that getting messages from our Mars rover is rocket science. is rocket science.

What the Iowa Cacuse really teaches Us

This is taken from Sad Salvation's good friend Peter Conrad and his blog Torches Over the Wino: "My takeaway from the Iowa Caucus (not that I was there) is that pretty much any candidate that your liberal friends (or Doonesbury) support is going to be eliminated. "

Wheel In The Sky Keeps On Voting

I am not sure I could vote for a man who says Journey's Greatest Hits is His Favorite Album. I am not sure I want his finger on the button. John Kerry is the only one that gives a good answer.

More Friendster-Like Choices

The Mercury News says that Google is starting a social networking service like Friendster. I wonder what it is like. I do not think there is any money in this space. People love using it, as llong as it is free. That is why Google seems to have a natural fit.

Are any of you members of Orkut?

Good-by Captain

I was never a big fan of Captain Kangaroo. I always watched Captain Noah when I was growing up. When I was older I respected his show.

Know the Facts

There is a great website for this political season, FactCheck.org. It is a non-partisan web site that looks into the facts behind the statements of the candidates and the campaigns. I think this is a great web site. I think that Annenberg Public Policy Center is a trustworthy organization. I will be watching this from here on out in the election.

RSS Feeds

I know nothing about RSS Feeds. I was given a hard time by my San Jose Blog Friends for not having one. I have never used them, so know nothing about it. I guess it is time for me to catch up.

1. Does anyone know how to use the RSS feature on Blogger? Is there anything special I need to know to set it up? I do not feel the support information is clear on this.

2. What is a good RSS client to use on my Mac (OS X)?

Pictures

I love the pictures on this meish entry. I look at this and I think this is what kinds of pictures I would really want to take.

New Car Features

I need a new car, I wonder if I can get one with the trunk monkey

The Ladies of the ring

This makes me think of Ealasaid

Buying the name

Coveting names for a price in San Jose: "Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the mayor's car with patches like it came out of NASCAR,'' said Councilman Chuck Reed, laughing."

Personally I would be pissed if Snapple became the official drink of San Jose.

The State of Marriage

Toward the end of the State of The Union last night, George Bush talked about marriage. Here is the text of what bush said about marriage.

A strong America must also value the institution of marriage. I believe we should respect individuals as we take a principled stand for one of the most fundamental, enduring institutions of our civilization. Congress has already taken a stand on this issue by passing the Defense of Marriage Act, signed in 1996 by President Clinton. That statute protects marriage under Federal law as the union of a man and a woman, and declares that one state may not redefine marriage for other states. Activist judges, however, have begun redefining marriage by court order, without regard for the will of the people and their elected representatives. On an issue of such great consequence, the people's voice must be heard. If judges insist on forcing their arbitrary will upon the people, the only alternative left to the people would be the constitutional process. Our nation must defend the sanctity of marriage.

The outcome of this debate is important - and so is the way we conduct it. The same moral tradition that defines marriage also teaches that each individual has dignity and value in God's sight.

Here is the Full Text of the State of the Union and here is the Democratic Leadership response.

I am wondering what my friends think about this. A lot of people I talk to all the time are for gay marriage. Sometimes in that position, you miss the people who have another point of view. I am wondering if anyone I know are against gay marriage. If you are against gay marriage, what are your reasons?

Rockin' with Dean

I wonder how many people have taken the Dean Iowa speech and made a song out of it with Apple's Garage Band. II have been able to fine more then one. One of them came from a guy who I know personally. It looks like it was not good for Dean that Garage Band came out this week.

Tattoo Pt 2

I got a lot of feedback from my last post. I was surprised how seriously everyone took it. I did not know my friends cared so much about tattoos. I was asking for tattoo suggestions as a joke, but no one played along. I think it says something.

I have thought about the image that I would want as a tattoo, but I have not found the exact image. It would not be the picture that is above One of the things I would think about is getting a Hippopotamus. I like the idea of a hippo as my icon. The hippo is a study in duality. This hippo is graceful in water and a klutz on land. There is something about this idea that really interests me.

A Question for this time, What are your tattoos and where are they?

At The End of Round One

Dean comes in Third in Iowa. Just remember to blame someone for your loss. It is fun to watch this one.

Second Thoughts On The Eagles

Cleveland
Seattle
San Diego
Milwaukee
Buffalo

Above is a list of the cities that have at least 2 major league sports teams that have waited longer then Philadelphia since winning a title. I did not think they had enough to win the Super Bowl, but I wanted them to get there. Last year Steve Young said that a team should feel bad if they lose the conference championship at home. I have no doubt that is how the Eagles feel today. The worst thing is that even if they get to the Championship game again next year, that will not be enough. They have to be able to win it. I think this season the Eagles overachieved to even get here. It is disparaging to get exposed this late in the season.

It is only 30 days until spring training opens. Lets Go Phillies!!!

They Lost

For the third year ina a row the Eagles lost in the NFC Title Game. It is the second year they lost at home. As a Philadelphia Sports fan, I know what it means to have my heart broken. I knew the team was flawed the whole time, but they kept on winning. I guess it is better then getting your butt kicked in the Super Bowl. Go New England!

I need to do something

The battery light in my car is on about 25% of the time that I drive it. I have taken it to mechanics to get it fixed, but they have not been able to find the problem. The battery is charging and the problem keeps on going away. It is truly a gremlin. If I took it to someone else to get it fixed, that would mean that I would need to put more money in to my car.

This means that I either need to buy a new car or get a cell phone. Getting a new car is why I do not want to put anymore money into this car. If I had the money for a new car, I would be driving one right now. I think I could swing a used car, but I want a new car for the first time in my life. I have only owned three cars, but someone else has always owned them first.

Since my car is having an odd problem and I do not want to get it fixed, I should get a cell phone. I have not had a cell phone up to this point. The main reason is because people do not call me. My home phone rarely rings. Most of the time it is telemarketers. I have always had a hard time paying an extra $35 a month to get no calls on that phone either. I need a cell phone so I can get help if when my car decides to give out. It is a matter of time before that happens.
